Our first request! An event completely worth promoting...

on Wednesday, 28 July 2010. Posted in Tourism Roatan Blog

Today we received our first request to retweet something. Any of our tweets show up on the site's home page  under the "Last 3 Tweets from Tourism Roatan" section, a high profile spot to capture visitors to the site.  Hopefully many visitors to Tourism Roatan will catch the latest changes and updates both about the site as it develops and also on exciting and worthwhile events like this one: Roatan Hospital Concert - August 26th at 5pm in Coxen Hole.

Not only did we retweet the event but we've added it to the Calendar of Events section of the website.  One of the main objectives behind the Tourism Roatan site is to help promote community events and build on the sense of community that exists on this beautiful island of Roatan.

Have something you want to show up on here? Please feel free to contact us! We look forward to adding many more events to the calendar and to the Twitter feed, helping showcase this piece of paradise.

Reflections of a great trip

I have been reflecting a lot lately on my recent trip to Roatan and one of the highlights for me was an experience at Hole-in-the-Wall, a floating restaurant in the middle of nowhere.  In fact you have to take a boat to get there. We hired a water taxi in Oak Ridge to take us through the mangrove forests and enjoyed seeing the many colourful houses that are built over the water. There are no highways here and boats are the only way in and out of this part of the island.

The all you can eat menu was incredible and included lobster tails...I've never experienced all you can eat lobster EVER!

On my next trip to Roatan, I am definitely going back to this gem of a place.

Summer has me thinking...

on Thursday, 15 July 2010. Posted in Tourism Roatan Blog

As summer finally reached Victoria last week, I can't help but think this season goes so quickly and soon I will be layering up to go outside while the warm waters of Roatan await. It seems like yesterday we were enjoying the warm breezes while chilling out on West Bay Beach, icy drinks in hand and not a care in the world...the next trip is on my radar.

Wishing you were here!

Getting things cleaned up in Victoria, missing my wife and Roatan terribly. Flight is booked back and I am counting the days!
